YCCA is a non profit organization formed in 1974, originally to collectively bring child care concerns to the territorial government. Throughout the years YCCA has be instrumental in developing the Child Care Act and regulations along, bringing the Early Childhood Development Program to the Yukon, hosting and co-hosting several child care conferences and a number of other early childhood initiatives. YCCA is affiliated with its federal counterpart, Canadian Child Care Federation and a representative of YCCA sits on the Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada.
YCCA’s mandate:
To work for the development of an expanded and improved child care system that is based on the principles of universal accessibility, high quality, affordability, parental involvement and control, provider direction, and appropriate wages and working conditions for child care providers.
